Here are my main tips: start with one person. Then coordinate the family around their outfit. Don't get too matchy-matchy. Add textures, patterns + prints! Just not too many ;) After you book, I'll send you a guide, for your newborn or family session, that will help inspire and provide more tips for great looking portraits!
I don't love it either! I don't know many that do... But try to remember how much your children will love having photos with you in them someday, and how much you love the photos you have of your mother or grandmother when they were younger. I sure love mine! Your children love you and think you are beautiful and deserve your family story to be documented with warm, happy images. I always try to be conscious of flattering mom in the photographs, but if you would like to let me know about any specific insecurities in advance, you can mention them in the questionnaire that I will send when you are booking. Then I can be extra aware during our session. I got you ;) I will direct you enough that you don't feel awkward or lost on what to do, but also not so much that you feel rigid or stiffly posed. I will also send lots more helpful information in the Welcome Guide that you receive upon booking. I promise it will be easier and more comfortable than you think!
No worries at all, life happens. I keep my schedule flexible to accommodate unexpected events. I will watch the weather in the days leading up to your shoot and consult with you before making the final call on whether or not to reschedule. If your child is sick, I would prefer we reschedule. They won't feel their best and it will show in the photos. Please just give me as much advance warning as you're able to. I appreciate it :) please also remember that the $250 retainer fee that you pay to book can be transferred to another date but is not refundable. We will work together to find the next convenient day that works for us both.
As soon as possible please! As soon as you find out your due date please contact me using the yellow "Let's Book It!" buttons throughout my website. To be ready and flexible for each baby's arrival, I only book a certain number of expecting Mamas each month. So reach out early if you can to assure you get on my calendar. That being said, don't hesitate to reach out to me at any stage! I recommend having your maternity photos taken somewhere between 26-34 weeks. This is when your adorable baby bump would be fully showing, but you’re also still comfortable. But again, if it's later than that and you're still game for photos, I am too!
Yes, you will receive all the best digital images in jpeg form to download from your gallery that meet my creative and quality standards. I promise a certain number depending on the session, but often I deliver more than that. When I first started out, I charged people per image and I just didn't like it. I want my families to have all the best.
U.S. copyright law states that as the artist, I am the owner of the images that I create. Therefore I retain copyright to your pictures, even if you are the subject and paid for them. However, I give my clients print permissions to print them and share them as they please :)
You can print wherever you want to! Don't leave those beautiful images sitting on a hard drive. I highly recommend printing through your gallery because it's the only way I can guarantee the color corrections I've made will match and that the quality of the prints and products will last for many years to come. In addition to what you hang on your walls, think too of what you want to pass down to your children. You've invested in professional quality images- print them at the same professional level. All that being said, please avoid the popular department stores- they just won't do them justice :(
No, sorry. I do not shoot any of the above. But if you would like, I could help recommend another photographer that will be able to meet your needs. Just use the button at the bottom of the page to reach out and ask.
I will edit your photos for color and style as I see fit and I may remove a blemish or cut here and there. I also will remove people from the background if that is needed. But I will not alter anyone's body, remove stray hairs, wrinkles, or do any other kind of extensive editing (like teen or baby acne) unless specifically asked and I will charge an additional editing fee in that case, as it is not part of my usual process and can result in several hours of extra work.
